Journey through Leicester’s solar system this spring
This spring, Leicester is transforming into a giant walkable solar system - and families are invited to explore it for free.
Planet Parade is a city-wide, family-friendly trail running from 30th March to 31st May, turning the city centre into a city-wide solar system. Planets created by local artists and schoolchildren will appear at venues across Leicester, with the Sun located at the National Space Centre.
Families can journey from planet to planet discovering interactive elements, fun space facts and creative installations along the way. The trail can be followed using the My Leicester App, where completing the full route unlocks prizes including a £200 Leicester Gift Card, a family ticket to the National Space Centre and a Ziggy astronaut toy. Children who complete the trail can also collect a special Ziggy badge.
Paper maps will also be available at each planet location, so little explorers can tick off their progress as they go. Perfect for Easter holidays and weekend adventures, Planet Parade blends art, science and play, encouraging families to explore the city together while celebrating Leicester’s proud space heritage. The trail is completely free, with no booking required.
