Grand Opening of LOROS Robin Memory Garden
LOROS Hospice’s latest campaign will give people the chance to remember a loved one by buying a limited edition robin figurine.
A magnificent display, which will include a special memory garden decorated with the robins, in Leicester’s Jubilee Square will be revealed on Monday 2nd September, for people to enjoy throughout the week.
The campaign follows last year’s hugely successful Forget-Me-Not appeal, which saw more than 3,000 cast iron flowers sold, raising at least £40,000 for the Hospice.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming people to Jubilee Square to see what is set to be a fantastic display that will give the whole family a chance to enjoy our robins while remembering a loved one,” said LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Charlotte Graham, who is overseeing the campaign.
The robins, which measure just shy of 15cm and cost just £25 each, can be fastened to a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces.
There are just 3,500 LOROS Robins up for grabs, so those looking to buy one are being advised to get in there fast, to avoid disappointment.
During the evening of Wednesday 4th September, visitors will be able to experience the Memory Garden as dusk, with the display open until 8pm.
Complete with a live singer, people will also be able to enjoy a glass of prosecco or a cup of tea.
“The campaign comes from the well-known saying ‘when robins appear, loved ones are near’,” added Charlotte.
“When we’ve mentioned the campaign to people, it’s amazing how many of them have a robin experience.
“We think our robins really will mean a lot to so many, not just our supporters but everyone from across Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and beyond.”
In addition to the late night opening on Wednesday 4th September, the display will be open from 10am until 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday and then 11am until 4pm on the Sunday.
The LOROS Robins will be available to buy and take home from any of the LOROS Shops, or alternatively, they can be posted out for an additional £5.
