Gallagher Continues to Help Bring Rugby to Schools Through Free Teacher Training Programme
Over 500 teachers have already completed the training, with Gallagher aiming to upskill 2,000 by 2028
Following a successful first season, Gallagher is proud to launch the second season of the Gallagher Touchline Academy, its free and accessible rugby teaching programme created in partnership with PREM Rugby and Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) clubs.
The programme is designed to give teachers the skills, confidence and resources to introduce the sport in schools, with no previous rugby experience required. Through virtual learning, in-person training delivered by PREM Rugby and PWR community coaches, and ready-made lesson plans, the programme provides everything needed to get started.
Since launching in May 2025, the Gallagher Touchline Academy has already supported over 500 teachers in schools across the UK and is estimated to have benefitted over 75,000 pupils as a result. Of participating teachers, 98% say they feel more confident delivering rugby lessons, while 96% plan to teach rugby in their school this year.
Teachers can register for the Gallagher Touchline Academy at no cost. With more than 20 sessions already scheduled for the 2026/27 season, the programme will support hundreds more teachers during the new school year. The programme includes:
• First-hand training from Gallagher PREM and PWR Rugby community teams
• A six-week rugby lesson plan designed for schools
• Access to an online resource hub
• CPD accredited hours
• Ongoing support from PREM Rugby and PWR community coaches
• A chance to win tickets to Gallagher PREM and JAECOO PWR fixtures as well as money can’t buy rugby experiences for teachers and their students
