Schools across the UK take part in Coram’s Wear Your Scarf Day for Children’s Mental Health Week
Today, hundreds of primary schools across the country are taking part in the fourth annual Wear Your Scarf Day, hosted by children’s charity Coram, to support Children’s Mental Health Week.
Wear Your Scarf Day encourages pupils to wear their scarves to school as a symbol of children’s wellbeing, celebrating the Coram SCARF values of Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship.
Coram SCARF, the leading charity provider of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education in primary schools, has provided participating schools with a toolkit of resources including activity packs and lesson plans to celebrate the day and the wider Children’s Mental Health Week campaign.
Donna Hill, Head of Coram SCARF, said: “We are delighted to see so many schools signing up to take part in Wear Your Scarf Day again this year. The day sparks important conversations around wellbeing, kindness and resilience, and enables children to think about how the SCARF values support them so they can develop essential life skills and positive relationships.”
One Year 5 pupil said: “Wearing my scarf made me feel proud because it reminded me that we all care about each other in our school.”
Wear Your Scarf Day is also being supported by organisations, families and communities who are sharing photos wearing their scarves on social media to show their support for children’s wellbeing. Follow the campaign and share your scarf selfies using the hashtags #WearYourScarfDay and #CoramSCARF.
