GO WILD OUTDOORS
Whatever your outdoor space, be it a balcony, courtyard, garden, window box or local park, there are ways you can make it a happier place for you and the nature on your doorstep over the Easter weekend:
- Plant wildflower seeds to attract a range of insects throughout the spring and summer, such as crickets, grasshoppers and butterflies, and giving them a home.
- Build a bee hotel – spring is the time that solitary bees will be ready to make nests and lay their eggs.
- Head to your local green space and see what species you can spot – download the free Seek app to identify any living thing in the area, including plants, flowers, insects, fungi, birds and animals.
GO WILD IN THE KITCHEN
Food production is not only the greatest driver of wildlife loss, it contributes to climate change: about a quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions are associated with food. Get creative in the kitchen this Easter and try one of these nature-friendly ideas:
- Pick your favourite species of plant or animal and create some wildlife-themed cupcakes or cookies to share with your friends and family.
- Make a meat-free Easter meal using these top tips and simple swaps to shop, cook and eat with nature and the planet in mind.
GO WILD AND GET CREATIVE
Those looking for something creative over the Easter break can join The Wild Escape - a major project led by national art charity Art Fund and inspired by Sir David Attenborough’s Wild Isles series.
The Wild Escape has various events and activities on offer over the Easter weekend, from celebrating nature and art with activities at one of the UK’s top galleries and museums, to getting crafty creating animal masks, paper plate hedgehogs, wildlife bookmarks, and more. Visit the ArtFund website to find out what’s on near you.

GO WILD AT HOME
Finish off the Easter weekend watching the fifth and final episode of Wild Isles on BBC One at 7pm. Episode five introduces us to the colourful underwater world of Britain and Ireland’s oceans. The episode will take you below the waves to uncover the stories of the animals that live along 22,000 miles of our coastline.
Wild Isles is a Silverback Films series for BBC One and iPlayer, presented by Sir David Attenborough and co-produced by The Open University, the RSPB and WWF.
