Sofa giant launches nationwide search for young designer
To celebrate the natural creativity of youngsters, ScS, one of the UK’s leading furniture and flooring specialists has teamed up with Ashley Manor, a UK award-winning upholstery expert, to launch a nationwide design competition called ‘My Sofa is’.
The sofa and flooring specialist is inspiring youngsters 11 years and under to put pen to paper and share their sofa designs as part of a competition, where the winning young designer will scoop the opportunity to work with Ashley Manor’s sofa designers to transform their unique drawing into not only a workable design, but a reality.
The winner’s school will receive a real life version of the winning sofa design for their reception or library. And in addition, the winning designer, in association with Broadway Travel, will also win a trip to Disneyland Paris for two adults and two children.
Simon Nicholson, Furniture Buying Director at ScS, said: “Childhood is often a time when we are at our most creative and great ideas often come from our youngsters. We know families and children enjoy spending time together at home and understand the role a favourite family sofa plays as the heart of the home, whether bringing the family together for a film or providing the ultimate foundation for playtime.
“We want to encourage children to tune into and share their natural creativity and imagination by creating their dream sofa design. We can’t wait to see some of their original designs, and look forward to choosing a well-deserved winner.”
Children, parents and schools across the UK are encouraged to get involved. Competition packs can be downloaded from the ScS blog. Entrants should decide on a sofa frame as a base to create their design and show their creativity and imagination. All entries must be submitted by the 26th February 2018.
