Pupils Take Centre Stage at London Technology Fair
Two pupils from a London primary school took centre stage at the world’s biggest technology fair last week.
The children, from Beatrix Potter Primary School in Wandsworth, were invited by Discovery Education to talk about virtual reality technology, and how they use it to travel the world from their classroom.
Speaking at London’s Bett Show on Thursday, the Year 4 pupils addressed an audience of teachers from across the UK. The youngsters took part in a session on ‘the classroom of the future’, and showed how virtual reality brings their lessons to life.
The pupils were invited to meet with Discovery Channel presenter and explorer Ed Stafford, who was also speaking at the event. The record-breaking adventurer is the first and only person to walk the length of the Amazon, and the boys were delighted to have their picture taken with him.
Teacher Gail Pears who accompanied the pupils on the day said: “Technology is a really important part of our lessons at Beatrix Potter, and it was a real privilege for the children to be invited by Discovery Education to speak at such a prestigious event. They had a fantastic day meeting with Ed Stafford and getting hands on with new classroom technology.”

Discovery Education was delighted to partner with two of the UK’s best loved broadcasters at this year’s Bett Show: Ed Stafford and Sir Tony Robinson. The pair, who present popular Discovery Channel programmes such as Marooned and Wild West, met with teachers and pupils, and took to the stage in the Bett Arena last Thursday.
