Foyles Summer of Fun sees books come to life from 25th July
The first Foyles Summer of Fun will see children’s favourite book characters take over Foyles stores across London and Bristol during the holidays. The festival will bring books to life with immersive theatre experiences, making workshops and character visits from the likes of Shaun the Sheep, LEGO® NINJAGO™Miffy, Where’s Wally, The Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit.
Where’s Wally will open festivities on Saturday 25 July at Charing Cross Road, London – but you’ll need to find him and his trusty dog Woof first! Then throughout the holidays children’s book characters Maisy, Miffy, Hugless Douglas and An Alien that Loves Underpants will also be making appearances at Foyles Westfield Stratford City, Royal Festival Hall and Cabot Circus, Bristol.
The 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll's classic tale Alice's Adventures in Wonderland will be celebrated in a not-to-be-missed theatrical experience at Foyles Charing Cross Road on Sunday 16 August. The Mad Hatter will take children on a delicious journey down the rabbit hole to find out why a raven really is like a writing desk, where they'll be treated to bonkers tea and (nutty as a fruit) cake.
Hands-on activities include exclusive new LEGO® construction workshops with expert LEGO® builders, a chance to make your own Shaun the Sheep with an Aardman model maker, adventures in anatomy with Maggie Li, author The Amazing Human Bodies Detectives, and a Thunderbirds Training Day. There will also be Mermaid Storytelling with Cbeebies presenter Cerrie B, illustration lessons with Petr Horacek and Salvatore Rubino, and animal science with Really Wild Show zoologist Nicola Davies.
Andy Quinn, Foyles Head of Events, comments:
“Children’s books are full of well-loved characters, and children are full of creativity, so we thought we’d bring the two together for the very first Foyles Summer of Fun. Whether your child wants to cuddle Maisy, build with LEGO® or investigate the world of science we’ve got something for everyone over the holidays.”
