Cinderella stars chat to INTO Film junior reporter

St Joseph’s School youngster interviews Kenneth Branagh, Lily James and Richard Madden for education charity

A young film fan turned star reporter had their chance to go to the ball when they interviewed the stars of Disney’s new film Cinderella through Into Film, the nationwide film education charity helps young people learn through and about film and is supported by the BFI with Lottery funding.

Always an enduringly popular classic, Cinderella is bound to capture the imaginations of a new generation. Undoubtedly one of the best-loved Disney animations, the live-action adaptation should bring the classic story of fairy godmothers, glass slippers and pumpkin coaches to a whole new generation.  And 11-year-old Manasi, who attends St Josephs Catholic Primary School in Chalfont, St Peter Reporter Manasi went to quiz stars of the film Lily James about living a childhood dream of becoming a real-life Disney princess, and Richard Madden about living up to the moniker of Prince Charming. The youngster also had Oscar-nominated actor / director, Sir Kenneth Branagh in the hotseat, and chatted to him about adapting the story to live-action and his decision to leave out some rather unsavoury aspects of the original Grimm's Fairytale…

The excited youngster said of her day; It was really fun interviewing all the stars and I learnt a lot about the film. It was nice to receive compliments about my interviewing – some of them said that I was one of the best interviewers and that I asked some really good questions which made me feel quite proud and glad that I did this.”

Manasi’s interviews are hosted on the Into Film network for its membership of schools, colleges, youth groups, and young people to view. The youngster also did a vlog of her day, which features on the Into Film youth-orientated GetIntoFilm YouTube channel.

Manasi was given this opportunity through role on the Into Film Talent Development programme, which enables young people with a passion for film to report from film industry events and interact with inspirational people within film whilst still at school – something that is widely regarded by education experts as hugely valuable for raising aspirations and providing information about potential career opportunities. Manasi applied through being a part of her schools film club.
