CBBC’s Cel Spellman urges schools to #WearItWild for WWF

Cel Spellman, presenter of CBBC’s ‘Friday Download’ and former ‘Waterloo Road’ actor, is urging schools across the UK to Wear It Wild for WWF on Friday 5 June 2015.

Wear It Wild, WWF’s new nationwide fundraising event, challenges pupils, teachers and even parents on the school run, to dress up and show their wild side to help protect our incredible wildlife. There are lots of ways to get involved - from dressing tough like a tiger to getting flashy like a flamingo or even strutting like a snow leopard.

With a range of downloadable curriculum-related resources, Wear it Wild is an exciting way for children to find out more about their favourite wild animals and see their amazing world through their eyes.

Cel Spellman said: “I was astonished to find out that in the last 40 years the number of animal populations in the wild has declined by 52%. These figures are simply shocking and not good enough. So this June, I’m going to be Wearing It Wild to help raise money for WWF in all the amazing work that they do. You guys can get involved too and it’s fun!”

Karen Gates, Schools and Events Specialist at WWF-UK, said: “We all know children love animals - and Wear it Wild is a great way for them to learn about their favourite species, let loose and go wild to show their passion for the cause.  In the past 40 years, the planet has lost more than half of its wildlife populations.  That’s why on Friday 5 June WWF is asking schools to take part in WWF’s first ever ‘Wear it Wild.”

Money raised will help support WWF’s work to tackle growing threats to the natural world and our precious wildlife!
