Priority Places at Pate’s

In September, the new Year 7 students will start their learning journey at Pate’s, gaining so much more than just a set of qualifications. The school's extensive co-curricular opportunities include aspirational overseas visits and exchanges, climbing, kayaking and biking with the Outdoor Adventure team, regular weekday and Saturday school sports fixtures for all ages and performing on stage in school, and House events which take place throughout the year.

Pate’s believe that the opportunity to benefit from this enriched education should be open to all children, regardless of their background. This is the driving force behind the Priority Places scheme which begins this September at Pate’s, whereby for the first time in the school's 450-year history, 10% of student places have been reserved for families who live in Cheltenham and are in receipt of Free School Meals.

Through their Priority Places scheme, alongside the Gloucestershire 70% rule and the Pate’s Shaping Futures 11+ mentoring programme, the school is committed to ensuring that Pate's Grammar School is a school that serves the local community.
