Step Into the World of Moomins in Gloucester!

This spring and summer, step into the enchanting world of Moominvalley as the Museum of Gloucester hosts a magical interactive exhibition, part of the global Moomin 80 celebrations.

Perfect for families and Moomin fans of all ages, this immersive experience brings Tove Jansson’s beloved characters to life through fun and engaging activities. Discover seven Moominvalley friends with the help of augmented reality, watch a moving mini-documentary about Jansson’s extraordinary life, and take part in playful moments throughout the exhibition.
A key highlight is the Moomin ABC exhibition, where visitors can explore feelings and emotions through interactive displays. Scan your hand to discover your special Moomin buddy, measure your height against a Moomin, dress up for an adventure, and use the magnetic play wall to create your own Moomin-inspired scenes.

As part of Refugee Week, the Moomin 80 programme also explores themes of home, belonging and community. Enjoy Dana Olărescu’s floating installation You Look as Though You Might Be a Relation, as it travels by raft through the city. Visit for the magical Moonlit Arrival, featuring live music from Zariq Rosita-Hanif, and don’t miss the Moomin-style picnic in Kings Square.

Gloucester Guildhall will also be hosting immersive Moomin-themed installations and screening Moomin films, adding even more ways to enjoy the magic. Plus, visit the Pop-up Moomin Gift Shop at the Museum for unique souvenirs and gifts. Whether you’re rediscovering childhood favourites or sharing the Moomins with the next generation, this season promises a celebration full of imagination, creativity, and connection.
