Totnes Show – A great day out for all the family!

This summer’s Totnes Show will take place on Sunday 28 July at Great Court Farm, Berry Pomeroy, Totnes. In the main ring there will be fantastic displays from ‘Chariots of Fire’ from Scotland, as well as a grand parade of livestock and terrier racing open to all breeds.  These exciting events will be started by celebrity guest, Lucy Siegle, presenter of the BBC One show. In addition, there is a dog show, Pony Club mounted games, traditional swing boats, a pets corner, ferret racing, sheep shearing and falconry demonstrations. Free Primary Times children’s ticket to Mid Devon Show

This year’s Mid Devon Show takes place on Saturday 27 July at Hartnoll Farm, Post Hill, Tiverton which has easy access from the M5, J27 is just 10 minutes away. There will be absolutely loads to see and do at the show from entertainment to animals large and small, plenty of tractors as well as food, children’s play areas, a local school’s tent, trade stands and crafts.  Toddlers can be ‘tagged’ or entertained in the ‘Blundell's Pre-school Creche’ area. In the Main Ring, the daring stunts of the Chariots of Fire carriage driving team will feature supported by an exciting and varied entertainment programme including a Dressage Display by Mid Devon's very own Paralympic contender, renowned local and internationally acclaimed rider, Edward Chanin on his horse 'My Rubicon'. There is also a music pavilion and a countryside arena with performances and displays running for most of the day. Ticket prices at the gate are £13 for adults but are available at pre-show prices up until the end of Monday 22 July. Children pay £5 without a Primary Times voucher. New Children’s Festival at Sidmouth FolkWeek

Families have plenty of hands-on fun for tinies to teenies at the new Children’s Festival, mostly based around the central Blackmore Gardens in Sidmouth from 2 to 9 August.  There will be an amazing array of daily events including workshops featuring everything from Caribbean Steel Pans to Gum Boot Dancing to learning to play the Ukulele, plus there will be craft carousels, action song sessions, the popular Teddies’ Hospital, performers’ showcases, dance displays, walkabout entertainment and fun-packed sessions. Some of the highlights of the week’s family evening shows include: the Da Silva Marionette Circus Troupe, the slapstick of The Jellyvision Show, Spooky Men’s Chorale’s special Family Concert as well as story nights, variety nights and the chance to dance to the brand new children’s ceilidh workshop band The Sidmouth Seaside Stompers! Dawlish Carnival Week returns for 2013

Dawlish Carnival Week is one of Devon's largest seaside carnivals and will take place over seven days from 10 to 17 August. Visiting families will be rewarded with plenty of free fun activities and entertainment each and every day.  The Grand Carnival Procession will take place on Friday 16th August from 7.30pm and will meander through its 2½ mile route through the town centre.  Sometimes the procession can reach over a mile in length and can take an hour to an hour and a half to pass through the town.

This year, the enormously popular Dawlish Air Show has moved its schedule to Friday 23 and Saturday 24 August.  Usually this event attracts tens of thousands of people to watch thrilling air displays in the skies above the town. The main flying display will take place on Saturday 24 August and the Family Fun Day on Friday 23 August will have attractions on the ground including static helicopters located at Dawlish Warren and family fun including sideshows, stalls, and ground displays on the lawn in Dawlish.  For more details go to www.dawlishairshow.co.uk or www.dawlishcarnival.co.uk

Enjoy a thrilling and enjoyable day out at Chagford Show

It’s a thrilling, enjoyable day out regarded by some visitors as Dartmoor’s most popular day for over 100 years. Everybody can meet friends both old and new on Thursday 15 August at Mill End Chagford (A382).  From the region come hundreds of animals for the multitude of events.  It is a day of fun and excitement for all ages. Watch a thrilling spectacle of terrier racing, see the dazzling and daring Jez Avery motorbike stunt display performing exciting tricks with wheelies, jumps and power slides, marvel at the cavalcade of vintage cars and tractors plus there will be hundreds of sheep and cattle to see. Okehampton Show celebrates its 106th anniversary

The 106th Okehampton Show will be held at Stoneypark on the western edge of Okehampton on Thursday 8th August 2013. This traditional and popular event has become renowned as an excellent day out and offers entertainment and education, mixed with a real insight into rural life. This year’s main ring entertainment includes carriage driving displays, a parade of hounds, terrier racing, a grand parade, a vintage vehicle parade and a tug of war competition.
