How much do parents know about air pollution and the impact on their families health?
The team at Airthings are passionate about raising awareness of what homeowners can do to improve their indoor quality. It is estimated that 1.1M children have asthma and over 20% of the UK population are affected by one or more allergic disorder. Indoor air pollution is usually caused by a build-up of dust, dirt, mould, humidity, and other allergens.
The Airthings TVOC sensor monitors toxins and chemicals that are present in the air that can cause negative health effects, such as headaches and rashes, as well as measuring temperature and humidity. Users can look at the device’s dashboard by simply waving in front of the screen to activate or they can access the insights on the app at any time to view current or historical levels. Close-range motion in front of the device activates a simple visual indicator light, which turns green (good, breathe easy), yellow (warning, air quality is degrading) or red (danger, air quality is not good, take action) to alert users of their home’s air quality. If the device warns of high levels, Airthings advises of some easy changes homeowners can make to improve the air quality.
