CBeebies Character ‘Boj’ Inspires Pre-schools and Nurseries throughout Buckinghamshire to ‘Get Recycling’
Popular preschool television programme ‘Boj’, which is regularly watched by over half a million viewers on CBeebies, has been inspiring children in 12 Buckinghamshire pre-schools and nurseries to ‘Get Boj-ing’ to celebrate National Recycle Week.
CBeebies star Boj is full of brilliant Boj-a-boom ideas for ‘creating stuff from other stuff’. He loves to reuse and recycle and show children how to think ‘outside of the box’, be resourceful and most importantly… have expressive messy fun!
Participants included Great Missenden Pre-school, Cherry Tree Nursery in Halton, Topsey Turvey in Weston Turville, Little Acorns in Wendover, Kingsmead in Milton Keynes and many others scattered across the county.
The children collected recycled boxes, toilet rolls, rubber bands and bottles and got “Boj-ing” by transforming them into shakers, microphones and shoebox guitars, all adorned with colourful Boj stickers, before singing along to music from the show!
There were also activity sheets with a recycling theme to complete, a colouring in sheet and an episode of the show to watch where Boj fixes his friend Denzel’s guitar using everyday objects… much like the children did on the day!
Claire Underwood, Pesky Productions director and creator of Boj commented, “Recycle Week is the perfect time for Boj to inspire our youngest community members to think about recycling, being resourceful and making entertainment rather than always buying new. If we sow these ideas in the minds of young people, we will grow a generation of responsible innovators who can help create a more sustainable world.”
Ceryl Taylor - Great Missenden C of E Preschool, enthused, "Boj is a great role model for children to learn about being resourceful, creative... and just about being a really good friend!"
Pesky Productions are planning to roll out the “Let’s Get Boj-ing” activity morning to pre-schools and nurseries across the nation, using Boj’s popularity to inspire more children to care about the environment and get recycling.
