TikTok teachers and emoji feedback: MyEdSpace reboots summer school for Gen-Z & Alpha

Online teaching platform MyEdSpace launches 'summer school' led by TikTok's most loved teachers - designed to boost students' grades and build confidence.

The three-week courses start in August for Years 5-13, with live lessons in Maths, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English - to keep kids engaged and on track for success come September.

Sean Hirons, co-founder of MyEdSpace, said: "We want our students to enjoy their summer holidays, but we also know how quickly the pressure builds with a change of school or when GCSEs and A Levels are in sight. Our summer school is designed to keep kids ahead and alleviate any anxieties about returning to school.

"We offer an entirely different experience to the 'stuffy classroom' that hasn't changed since the 1800s. Every lesson is taught live by our talented teachers, handpicked from the top 1% in the UK. We're rewriting the education rulebook and our results speak for themselves."

Every MyEdSpace teacher is selected through a rigorous selection process. This includes resitting A-level exams and an in-person test with the social media team to see how engaging they are. MyEdSpace's teachers have over 4m combined followers across their social media channels where they give free content on core subjects to inspire, engage and attract students.

58% of MyEdSpace students achieved 7-9 grades at GCSE in the 2023/2024 academic year - more than double the national average. This comes as the legacy of Covid continues to affect grades, with recent projections showing the percentage of students in England getting grade 5 or above in English and maths will fall from 45.3% in 2022/23 to less than 40% in 2030.

MyEdSpace's summer school is designed to reverse this trend, with two one-hour lessons per subject each week delivered in an online format designed for this generation.

Neil Trivedi, aka NeilDoesMaths, founding teacher at MyEdSpace, says: "Summer school isn't simply for catching up - it's for curious, switched-on students who want to hit the ground running in September.

"Gen Z students engage far more with online lessons, seeing others who may have made similar mistakes to them, as messages and emoji reactions are how they communicate with each other. Our students arrive early and send around 20-30 messages per lesson, showing far more engagement than any standard in-person lesson.

"Our summer school fits around holidays - every lesson is recorded, so students can learn when it suits them. It's also a fun way to try MyEdSpace before the new academic year kicks off in September."

Compared to private tuition which often costs over £40 an hour, MyEdSpace's summer school offers six hours of lessons for £10 - with extra subjects from £5 each.
