Great British Dog Walk at Raby Castle, Darlington

There will be waggy tails and wet noses in abundance at Raby Castle near Darlington on 5th May, when hundreds of dog walkers gather to raise money for national charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

The walk, which is supported by Specsavers Audiologists, is one of 13 similar events to be held in picturesque locations across the UK as part of one of the charity’s most important annual fundraisers, the Great British Dog Walk.

By taking part in either the 3km or 8km sponsored dog walk, people will be helping to train more incredible hearing dogs to alert partners to life-saving and important sounds and help them reconnect with life.

The jewel in the crown of County Durham, Raby Castle is one of the country’s most impressive castles, surrounded by picturesque parklands. Children accompanying their parents to the castle for the Great British Dog Walk will be able to let their imagination run wild when visiting the castle’s adventure playground, The Plotters’ Forest.

The Great British Dog Walk is run by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, the national charity that trains clever dogs to alert deaf children and adults to important and life-saving sounds.

Tickets are £12 in advance for adults and are available online at The Great British Dog Walk or £15 on the day. Children under 16 go free. A free dog bandana is included with every adult ticket.
