North East Outdoor Spectacular Kynren Nominated for National Award

Spellbinding live outdoor show Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, is in the running for a national award celebrating UK visitor attractions.

The Bishop Auckland show has been included on the shortlist for Best Event for Groups in the Group Leisure and Travel awards, which take place in October.

The annual Group Leisure & Travel Awards recognise the best providers, attractions and destinations for groups as chosen by their readers.

Kynren has long proved to be popular with group travel providers due its ability to host large groups in its 8,000-seater tribune, stunning Bishop Auckland location and ability to engage visitors with different interests and ages.

However, the opportunity to share a unique, educational, entertaining and, at times, poignant experience with thousands of others is what makes Kynren so appealing to the group travel market.

Kynren offers special prices for groups of 20 or more and also exclusive rates to for schools and groups such as the Scouts and Guides.

Chief Executive of 11Arches, Anne-Isabelle Daulon said: “We are thrilled to be among the finalists for the award.

“One of the most joyous parts of an evening at Kynren is overhearing groups returning to their transport after a show comparing their favourite scenes, we are looking forward to another summer of memory-making.”

Voting for the awards is open until Sunday, July 2 with Kynren facing competition from other high-profile events including Royal Ascot, the Goodwood Festival and BBC Gardener’s World live.

All finalists had to receive a nomination before being included on the shortlist for the final round of voting.

Performed by a 1,000-strong volunteer cast and crew on a 7.5-acre outdoor stage, the multi-award-winning live action spectacular delights and dazzles the senses, with its mix of hand-

to-hand combat, daring stunts, incredible horsemanship, stunning pyrotechnics and amazing special effects.

Kynren returns this year for a remarkable seven-week run during the summer holidays.

Running every Saturday evening throughout the summer from 29th July – 9th September, the 90-minute show is a truly unique experience not available anywhere else in the UK.

The show is produced by charity 11Arches, which was established together with the Auckland Project by philanthropist Jonathan Ruffer. It has attracted almost 400,000 visitors to the town since its inception in 2016.
