Nightfall; A Stellar Rainbow is set to bring 16,000 attendees together across 2nd – 5th December for magical winter time memory making. This rainbow themed family-friendly outdoor event features a self-guided trail around Stewart Park, Middlesbrough of wonderful light-based artworks complemented by music, live storytelling and performance.

This annual Tees Valley event, for 2021, is themed around ‘A Stellar Rainbow’, providing a joyful escape and injection of colour into the grey we have all experienced over nearly two years of uncertainty. The colourful light artworks will bathe Stewart Park in colour, revealling secrets from inside the rainbow. #Nightfall21 will bring together curious rainbow seekers, friends and families to enjoy the vibrant beauty and sometimes hidden colours of the night sky, inspired by stars, comets, planets and nebulae.

Nightfall is organised by Teesside based creative producers Stellar Projects; they have a passion for creating amazing collective experiences and making those ‘you just had to be there’ moments. And Nightfall is set to be just that – unmissable, unforgettable and the perfect way to bring the Tees Valley community together again!

Rachel Willis from Stellar Projects said:

“We are thrilled to return with Nightfall 2021 at our wonderful new home Stewart Park. It’s great to be able to bring our outdoor magical light experience back, bringing families and friends together from Teesside and beyond! We have a very special programme planned which will bring some colour and joy into the dark nights across 2nd – 5th December!”

At the end of the rainbow and the #Nightfall21 trail, attendees will find beautifully decorated dwell areas where they can relax with some warming refreshments, purchase street food from the likes of Parm-O-Rama, FlipnFast Crepes & Spud Gun Loaded Fries. Attendees will also be able to unleash their creativity and drop into one of the free workshops led by professional artists Sofia Barton, Duncan Burnett, Morwenna Catt, Jenny Mc Namara, Lottie Smith and Hazel Soper. These workshops were created as part of an artist professional development programme through a collaborative partnership with Stellar Projects and Navigator North.

The Nightfall Lates Music Programme will see later event slots come to life with a fantastic programme of live music curated by BaseCamp Boro. The exciting line-up features the likes of Mike McGrother, Ponyland, Beth Macari, Moonwax, Finn Forster and Los Capitanes. Nightfall visitors will be able to enjoy some musical talent under the stars whilst enjoying a mulled wine, a beer or hot chocolate.

Graham Ramsey from Base Camp Boro said:

“The #Nightfall21 live music line up is full of feel-good music; a nice mix of local Teesside faves and acts that can’t wait to play here! After nearly two years of cancelled gigs, the booked bands are just itching to get up there and we’re personally delighted to be taking part in this amazing winter celebration!”

And if that’s not enough for Nightfall ticket holders, Stellar Projects have just announced that the Nightfall experience doesn’t end at the event! They have pulled together a programme of colourful online activities and performances to watch post-Nightfall visit to help keep the happy rainbow feeling alive and bring a touch of colour into homes!
