Did you know that many everyday items contain batteries, even if they're hidden inside? Old toys, wireless headphones, electric toothbrushes, tablets, and power banks can all cause fires if they're thrown into household waste or recycling bins.
West Sussex Recycles is encouraging families to remember one simple message: If it has a plug, battery or cable... don't bin it!
Instead, check whether it can be repaired, reused, donated or recycled safely. Many unwanted electrical items contain valuable materials that can be used again.
