Private Fostering Awareness Week in Surrey

Surrey County Council is excited to announce Private Fostering Awareness Week and invites you to join us in supporting children in Surrey.

The week starting Saturday 26 January is dedicated to raising awareness about private fostering and the vital role it plays in ensuring the safety and well-being of children. We encourage you to follow the Fostering Service on social media at @surreyfostering, attend the events with free lunch or online information sessions to learn more about private fostering and how you can get involved.

Private fostering occurs when a child under the age of 16 (or under 18 if disabled) is cared for by someone who is not their parent or a close relative for more than 28 days. Reporting these arrangements is crucial to ensure the child's safety and well-being. By raising awareness, we aim to ensure that all private fostering arrangements are reported and supported appropriately.
