February Half Term activities for children in Suffolk
Updated: 1/2/2014
Why not embrace all that the blustery winter has to offer rather than diving into warm hibernation? Yes, it may be dull, damp and dreary outside but by staying indoors you could be depriving yourself of many spectacles that happen every day outdoors during the winter months. Take a step past the threshold and discover what is happening in the local area this February and March...

Huddle up by the Boggle Wish Bonfire this February half term
The Boggles are sprinkling a little Boggle magic on BeWILDerwood this February half term from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 February and can’t wait for visitors to arrive. Join them as they re-light the warming bonfires and re-commence the party at the curious tree house adventure park. The ‘Boggle Wish Bonfire’ is the first weeklong event of the season – head to the ‘Big Hat’, which will be brimming with pinecones and twigs, card and tissue paper; pots and pans (borrowed from Swampy’s mum’s kitchen), and gallons and gallons of glittery glue. Children can get busy on a wish-making potion and join together at the fire pit to make their wishes come true. There is a special offer of ‘3 for the price of 2’ during half term week - ‘Like’ BeWILDerwood on Facebook or visit the BeWILDerwood website to find out details of how to access the 3 for 2 voucher. Children Learn To Run, Cook and Count with the Bard
From 17 to 23 March, 7-11 year olds in more than 1600 primary schools across the UK will explore the stories and legacy of William Shakespeare, from how he influenced today’s modern language to what he might have eaten for his tea!
Teachers in their thousands have signed up to join in this national campaign created by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and are downloading free resources to plan fun and creative sessions that will introduce Shakespeare to children in their most formative years. From fashion, film-making and finger puppets to making a Tudor banquet and learning about the plague flea, Shakespeare will be cropping up in unusual ways across every school subject.
Children can continue their Shakespearean adventure outside school with a Passport to Shakespeare that will give them and their family exclusive discounts and access to special exhibitions, productions and events in theatres, historic sites, museums, galleries, cinemas and libraries during Shakespeare Week and beyond, across the UK. For a full line-up of happenings visit www.shakespeareweek.org.uk

All mums adore receiving lovingly made gifts created from the fair hands of their children so a small personalised keepsake given on Mother’s Day will be truly treasured. Smallprint is the original fingerprint jewellery company, specialising in creating fine silver jewellery, capturing children's unique fingerprints, hand and footprints in fine silver. It also showcases miniature replicas of their precious drawings and doodles on its range of keepsakes.
Smallprint Ipswich was started in 2013 by local mum Kerry Spall, who welcomes families to visit her in her home studio or at one of the venues where she will be taking prints and showcasing her jewellery.
