Harvest Time at The Prep at Denstone College

This week saw a wonderful performance from the youngest children in celebration of the Harvest Festival. The whole of Pre-Prep performed to their parents and the rest of the prep school, in chapel on Tuesday. There were some fabulous reprisals of some new and old favourites: Big Red Combine Harvester, The Bean Song, Mr Scarecrow, Harvest Samba and The Harvest Song. They had all brought with them their harvest contributions of fruit and vegetables, some of which had been home grown. They had also made a scarecrow in class to scare the birds away from the harvest!

The next day the Pre-Prep pupils visited Barrowhill Hall nursing home in Rocester with Mrs Clews and Mrs Wild to deliver the produce that had been so generously donated by our families. The residents that they met were delighted with everything that they had brought with them.

Tina Coar, Manager of Barrowhill Hall, said “On behalf of all the residents and staff at Barrowhill Hall, we can’t thank you enough for thinking of us all at this time.”

The children were reminded that it is an important time to remember the elderly. Cosima, Lydia, Jack, Ted, Jack and Harry were excited to be picked to visit the local nursing home.

Mrs Clews, Head of the Pre-Prep, said she was extremely proud of the children for sharing their harvest produce with the nursing home. One of the residents even had her own private performance of The Bean Song, sung outside, of course.
