Norbury High School for Girls: Enabling young women to flourish
Norbury High School for Girls is a vibrant, values-driven community where Empowerment, Empathy, Excellence and Equality are lived every day. As part of the Wandle Learning Trust, their students regularly put these values into action; recently, they worked collaboratively to raise £1000+ for victims of Hurricane Melissa, demonstrating purposeful community contribution beyond the classroom.
This ethos is expressed daily through being Ready, Safe, Showing Respect and Working Hard. This consistent culture ensures every girl feels secure and ambitious, supported by a legacy of academic excellence. Consistently Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ for over a decade, students achieve strong academic outcomes. They are particularly proud of their success in English at KS4, where nearly a third of the English Literature student cohort secured top grades 9-7.
They celebrate the richly diverse community and are dedicated to embracing students with English as an Additional Language (EAL). By linking this diversity to high-level oracy work, they ensure every voice is heard. As a Croydon hub school for Oracy Cambridge, and through initiatives like “Talk About Transition” workshops, the school strengthens the confidence and resilience of its pupils from the moment they join.
Beyond lessons, students find their voice through LAMDA, student-led musical theatre, and the Celeste Choir. From King’s College London STEM partnerships to peer-to-peer maths coaching, Norbury Girls grow into confident, compassionate leaders.
They warmly invite you to visit nhsg.org.uk to discover a school where young women truly thrive.
