Spooky films inspire fantastic creative courses at the Conservatoire!
October half term’s holiday programme at the Conservatoire takes inspiration from films (both spooky and not) and Halloween. Shorter courses (for younger artists) introduce a multitude of skills in a fun, imaginative and accessible way. Children can craft mummies from Night At The Museum, black cat puppets from The Secret Life Of Pets, a skeleton from Coco, witches from Wicked, a Halloween wreath and a dragon from How To Train Your Dragon! They can also create Yayoi Kusama-style Dotty Pumpkins and make their own Halloween House Hangings!
In the full day courses, learn different filming techniques like animation and claymation, make masks inspired by Studio Ghibli and the upcoming adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Twits, witch hats and Yellow Brick Roads from the new Wicked movie, a mixed media My Neighbour Totoro, and a trick-or-treat bag! Holiday staple, Teen Clay Club (12-16 yrs), is also returning. Whatever they choose, children will have fun showcasing their talents and imagination.
Roundabout is the Conservatoire’s most popular and long-running course, and it’s easy to see why. Children aged 5-7 spend half a term each on six instruments over the course of a year, getting an introduction to strings, brass, guitar, piano, flute and percussion in small groups. A Half Term Taster over two mornings provides the perfect chance to give it a go before signing up!
