Back to school with brass bands and heritage buildings at Woolwich Works
As summer wraps up and the kids get ready to head back to school, Woolwich Works has a number of colourful ways to encourage their creativity and imaginations.
On Wednesday 27th August children and their adults can craft colourful decorations and parade-ready props for Woolwich Carnival at a free, drop-in workshop with TARU Arts ahead of the main Carnival on Saturday 13th September. With two sessions to choose from and no experience needed, everyone is welcome.
Budding engineers and dancers won’t want to miss 1 Click Away on Saturday 30th August. This interactive dance performance invites families to build, dismantle, and reshape packaging boxes through playful storytelling and movement. Families can discover creative ways to repurpose materials instead of throwing them away.
A celebratory outdoor festival of brass music across the historic Royal Arsenal will blow the roof off on Saturday 6th September. At Brassworks, expect bold fanfares, a lively street parade, and free performances all day in the courtyard that showcase both local talent and cutting-edge ensembles.
Then on Sunday 21st September, step inside and discover Woolwich Works’ Grade II listed buildings as part of the National Trust’s Heritage Open Day. Perfect for inquisitive minds to soak up 300 years of history through guided tours, talks and a relaxed, crafternoon activity too.
