New Primary Academy with new Head Teacher opens in Burntstump, Arnold
Set in idyllic surroundings Burntstump Seely Church of England Primary Academy opens its doors in September
A new primary academy is opening in September called Burntstump Seely Church of England Primary Academy with a new head teacher and new management team running the school.
Formally Arnold Seely C of E School, Burntstump Seely Church of England Primary Academy is set in idyllic countryside at the top of Burntstump Hill, and is, says new Head teacher Heather Gabb, a hidden gem. “Burntstump is a very special school because of its wonderful family atmosphere and beautiful setting. Although we are so near the A60 and A614, it feels as though the school is in the middle of the countryside.”
Heather, who brings 22 years of teaching experience with her says that she is excited about her new role at the school. “I am passionate about working with children, and over the years have been privileged to see what a difference a good head teacher can make to so many children. I look forward to nurturing the talents of each child in order for them to achieve their full potential.” Heather says that the Christian ethos at the school means that it is an encouraging and supportive environment. “On my first visit I was struck by how polite, welcoming and keen to learn the children are. As a Church of England Academy, we will aim to create a caring Christian environment in which all children are welcome regardless of race, gender or religion. We will strive to promote moral awareness in our children so that they know the difference between right and wrong and to encourage the children to develop a positive self-image as well as respect for others. The school’s ethos is clearly one of enthusiasm for learning and respect for each other and the environment.”
The original school was gifted to the community by the Seely Family of Sherwood Lodge (now Nottinghamshire Police headquarters) in 1902 and will now operate within the Diocese of Southwell & Nottinghamshire Multi-Academy Trust (SNMAT). Mr Chris Moodie, Chief Executive Officer at the Trust said that the school will now be able to work in partnership with other Academies within the Trust, strengthening impact on educational outcomes for children and accelerating learning. He said, “Burntstump has a unique offer. It is a small school, but not small enough for its size to limit what it offers. Several new members of staff have been appointed recently and we are very excited about the impact that they are already having. When I first visited the school I was struck by the quality of learning throughout, especially in the early years where the environment is exceptionally good. Finally, of course, we all want our children to attend an idyllic primary school set in beautiful English countryside and Burntstump offers this, within easy reach of surrounding housing. I would recommend to all parents looking for the right school for their children that they consider all options, and that they make sure that they visit Burntstump.”
The Burntstump Seely Church of England Primary Academy will offer 4-11 education with places still available for September 2016. To arrange a visit please call during term time in September on 0115 963 2833.
