Nottingham City Council - Swim School

Did you know that by the time your child leaves primary school they should be able to swim a minimum distance of 25m unaided?

Lots of children still cannot swim this distance. It’s vital every child learns to swim and gains core knowledge regarding water safety. It’s also great fun being able to swim!

Nottingham City Council’s 8 stage all-inclusive programme takes non-swimmers from their first splash to developing confidence and competence in the water.

We take swimmers from just six months old. Sessions help children develop early-years water confidence, often through fun and games with toys and play equipment.

Once your swimmer has developed the core range of skills, they could take part in all kinds of water based activities. Perhaps competitive swimming (stage 8), or flip and fun (diving)? There are also rookie lifeguard and challenge swimming classes.

Some of our pools offer specialist swimming lessons for children with a disability or additional needs.

Please visit www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/swimming for more on times and venues of sessions. There’s also a quick, no obligation form to register your interest in Nottingham Swim School. Alternatively please call 0115 876 1600.
