Nottinghamshire Outstanding Achievement 4Uth Award
The awards are a celebration of excellence and achievement among our young people including those who:
have triumphed over adversity
care for people around them
are working hard within their community to make a difference.
Nominees are identified by peers, youth leaders, teachers and family members as a special source of inspiration.
The award shortlist is decided by panels of young people will meet in each district during July and August. The panels will look at all the nominations from their district and select a local winner to go forward for the county award.
The seven local winners will then be considered by a final judges panel which will include the Leader of Nottinghamshire County Council, the editor of the Nottingham Post, other senior politicians, the Chairperson of Nottinghamshire County Council's Young People’s Board and last year's winner of the award.
Nomination Criteria
To be nominated a young person must fulfil the following criteria.
The young person must live in one of the seven County Council districts. This does not include those living within the Nottingham City boundaries.
Nominees must be at least old enough to be in Year 7 at school and no older than 19 (the maximum age for disabled young people is 25). We will not consider nominations for groups.
Young people should be nominated because they have achieved at an outstanding level within their own personal boundaries. For example a young person who has excelled in activities around art and dance may find themselves being considered for the award alongside another young person who has surpassed all expectations in the field of sport. Equally the award may be presented to someone who has overcome a number of barriers to achieve academically or someone else who has made an outstanding contribution to their community.
The young person and their parent or guardian (if aged under 18) gives consent to be involved in media coverage relating to the award.
