A small school that makes a big difference

Have you got concerns about class sizes? Are you worried about your child being overlooked? Do teachers really know your child?

Hollygirt is a unique environment. We help children develop their individual strengths and abilities whilst ensuring they are safe, secure and happy. We take children of all abilities and we only assess children before they join so that their educational needs can be met. Despite this, our academic results are up there with the highly selective independent schools in Nottinghamshire. This year, one in every three pupils got nine or more A*/A grades in their GCSE examinations.

We believe this is a result of a successful mixture: small class sizes, teachers’ dedication and a child’s positive attitude to their school environment.

Headmistress, Mrs Pamela Hutley, said “I have noticed myself describing our school as ‘quirky’. It feels right. Our whole approach is becoming increasingly different from the big schools and I am proud to be leading our fabulously eclectic pupils into their futures”.

We would love to see you at our next Open Day on Saturday 11th November. Tours are at 9.30am and 10.30am. All are welcome. If you cannot make it, just call us to book an appointment for a personal tour instead. We look forward to seeing you.

Garibaldi College

The school is a high achieving school which provides a safe environment where students can feel comfortable, well supported and confident.

Garibaldi has been awarded Leading Edge School Status; this award is only given to a small number of schools nationally and recognises exceptional achievement by our students.

The words ‘pride’, ‘respect’ and ‘achieve’ summarise the school vision.  We encourage our students to take pride in themselves, the school and their community. Respect for each other and staff is extremely important and our students understand this. The mutual respect and shared goals of the staff and students coupled with outstanding and innovative teaching all contribute to the students’ excellent achievement at both GCSE and A level.

Nottingham Academy

Rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED, Nottingham Academy strives to develop young people who are able to reason, enquire, create and evaluate and who are prepared for the ever changing world, through outstanding teaching and excellent pastoral support.

Academy has developed an innovative Key Stage 3 (KS3) curriculum designed to support pupils through the transition from primary to secondary education whilst developing academic skills through thematic study. Pupils study English, mathematics and modern foreign languages as well as the new cross-curricular subject areas of Discover, Create and Perform. The new subject areas have been developed to provide pupils with the opportunity to explore subjects in a deeper more coherent way. The KS3 curriculum, now in its second year, has been extremely well received by pupils and parents. Outstanding work has been produced with pupils engaged and focussed on six week long topics, ranging from ‘Survival’ to ‘Myths and Legends’.

Lead Principal, Mr Rae, said: “Nottingham Academy is ambitious in its aims, innovative in its approach and resilient in its pursuit of excellent outcomes for pupils. We look forward to showing pupils and their parents the fantastic experience which awaits them at Nottingham Academy at the Open Day and Evening on 28th September.

We strive to fulfil everyone’s learning potential within a kind, nurturing and inclusive environment. We value high standards, hard work and a ceaseless desire to improve. But, most importantly, we enjoy the journey together.

“The school’s values run through its work like the proverbial letters through a stick of seaside rock… the staff turn the values into action. The result is a close relationship between the pupils and the staff.” – Ofsted, November 2016

Our calm and welcoming environment allows girls to make excellent progress and achieve academically, whilst developing their character through an extensive extra-curricular programme and superb pastoral support. We celebrate our diversity and are proud of who we are.

“The school is a cohesive and inclusive community, characterised by harmonious relationships among the very diverse range of grups of pupils represented.” – Ofsted, November 2016

Our sixth form is now well established and offers academic challenge, with excellent tutorial support. Through high standards in teaching and pastoral care we expect to prepare our students well for entrance to higher education, high quality employment and the future careers of their choice.
