Carrickfergus Castle

For more than 800 years, this Norman castle has occupied an imposing position on the shores of Belfast Lough. Built in 1177 by John de Courcy, it has been altered throughout the centuries and been in use as a garrisoned property until as late as 1928.

Children will love exploring this remarkable monument with its cliffside prison cells, cannons and stunning lough views. In the tower they can dress up and 'get into character' and play a giant game of chess or snakes and ladders.
