Summer Reading Challenge: Wild World Heroes

The UK's biggest reading challenge for children is back for 2021!

From 10th July, children across the county will be able to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge which is taking place from Saturday 10th July until Friday 10th September.  Check out the event mini-sites for Norfolk Libraries to find out more and get started.  Presented by The Reading Agency and delivered in partnership with local libraries and WWF, this year's theme is Wild World Heroes and aims to help young readers discover how they can make a difference to the environment.

To complete the challenge, all young readers will need to do after registering is to read or listen to at least six books of their choice, there are exclusive rewards to collect along the way and, best of all, it is FREE to take part..  Upon completion of the challenge, children will receive a certificate, medal and also be entered into the prize draw.

Along the way participants can collect stickers and other rewards, take part in free online events and find book recommendations.

If you are not able to make it to a library, your family can sign up for free at your local library or visit the official Summer Reading Challenge website to register.  The website also contains some great resources including an interactive book sorter to help your child choose their next story dependent on their own preferences,  a list of recommended books based around the wildlife and nature theme.  On the site you will also find craft activities,  competitions and online literacy games.  The Home Zone provides a place for parents and carers to help their  children to rate and review the books that they are reading and can be used all year round to help youngsters reach their reading goals.

Here at Primary Times Norfolk, we would love to hear which books your kids are enjoying so why not let us know by emailing us or tagging us @primarytimesnorfolk on Instagram and @primarytimesnor on Twitter.

You can find out about your local library at the Norfolk Libraries website here

Enjoy reading!
