Family Holidays in and around Norfolk

There’s good reason why so many families book that longed-for holiday in the winter. Early bookings benefit from the first pickings of dates and accommodation, early-bird discounts and of course, it gives families something to look forward to during the wet, windy winter months.

The question on many people’s lips will be whether to take the 2019 family holiday at home or abroad.

If the summer of 2019 promises to be anything like the summer of 2018, then expect a bumper proportion of bookings to be in the UK.

If you’re wanting a holiday during high season, it’s sensible to reserve or book your preferred accommodation at your earliest opportunity as those peak dates will get snapped up quickly.

Yet many families can’t resist the lure of the foreign holiday.

Over the last few years the appetite for foreign travel by UK residents has grown substantially.

Between 1996 and 2016 there was a 68% rise in foreign trips, from 27 million to 45 million foreign holidays. There has been a decline in 2-week holidays and a rise of short breaks, partly due to the growth of budget airlines.

As for most popular holiday destinations, this hasn’t changed much. The demand for holidays to Spain has rocketed up 87% in 20 years, while France, although still a popular destination amongst Brits, has seen a fall of 9%. Italy, Portugal, USA, the Netherlands, Germany and Greece have all grown in popularity.

There may be exchange rate volatility because of Brexit on 29 March 2019, so if you are planning a holiday in an EU country you will need to decide when it will be a good time to buy currency and book that foreign trip.

If you’ve decided on a trip closer to home, you may wish to know what is available in the locality. We’ve taken a look at some of the best places to visit in the area.

Time to Ditch the Tent and Upgrade?

It’s a fact, kids love camping, but camping doesn’t have to mean sleepless nights, being battered by the elements when little Jessica needs a midnight wee or starting off the holiday with a family feud whilst trying to come across all Bear Grylls with the tent erection.

You can still enjoy all of the fun and benefits of camping whilst also treating yourself to a little home comfort by hiring one of the family sized motorhomes from Capricorn Campers.
