On 6th May, there will be events across Norfolk to mark The Coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort.
Below, we have listed a number of family-friendly celebrations that will be taking place both on the day and through the weekend until and including the special Bank Holiday on 8th May. Please keep checking back as we will be adding more activities as they are announced

The Coronation
The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place on Saturday 6th May with events and activities taking place throughout the weekend. To mark the occasion, there will be an extra Bank Holiday on Monday 8th May. Read on to find out more about the weekend..
What is a Coronation?
A Coronation is a ceremony marking the formal investiture of a monarch with regal power. It is centred around a solemn religious ceremony and has remained largely unchanged for over a thousand years. For the last 900 years, the ceremony has taken place at Westminster Abbey and is conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
How you can get involved
The Coronation Ceremony will be shown on TV and online as will a special concert performed at Windsor Castle with iconic locations across the UK lit up using projections, lasers, drone displays and illuminations.
Coronation Big Lunches will be taking place from 6th to 8th May up and down the country where people are encouraged to get together with their neighbours, friends and local community to celebrate friendship food and fun. Family Friendly Coronation Events and Activities in Norfolk in date order
Visitors will be able to sit on the throne for a royal photo opportunity and the Centre will also be decorated with crowns decorated by local school children. More information to be announced.
6TH MAY
CORONATION DAY AT BAWSEY ESTATE AND COUNTRY PARK

6TH AND 7TH MAY
CORONATION LIVESTREAM AND STREET PARTY AT THETFORD
Thetford Marketplace.
Livestream of the Coronation event on Saturday 6th May starting at 10:30 and on Sunday 7th May you can take part in the street party from 12pm to 2pm. All events are free and you are encouraged to bring your camp chairs and picnic
6TH TO 8TH MAY
THE CORONATION OF HIS MAJESTY THE KING AT SANDRINGHAM
On Saturday 6th May you can watch the live broadcast of the Coronation in King's Staithe Square which will be followed by entertainment, live music and fireworks to finish the night. There will also be activities for children in the Square from noon until 5pm including a minesweeping game to play alongside crafts including crown making.
Sunday 7th May will see more music and entertainment on stage in the Square as well as children's activities from noon to 5pm.
Celebration of the coronation with traditional games on the lawn, farmyard animals, refreshments, face painting, a treasure hunt and access to the technicolour gardens and wide-open spaces
7TH MAY
FRETTENHAM FESTIVAL 2023 CELEBRATES KING CHARLES III'S CORONATION
Children's entertainers, children's sports, games and crafts, Royal Fancy Dress competition, tennis and pickleball coaching sessions, community singalong, Mini Girl Guide Camp, community group displays, plant a sunflower and more.
