Toyota announces the UK winners of the 2023 Dream Car Art Contest
Toyota is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 Dream Car Art Contest, selected from more than 600 entries.
Toyota’s competition seeks to inspire and encourage young people to think about future mobility and how it might help people and the planet. It has three age categories for youngsters up to 15. All the UK winners’ entries will be submitted to the global final, where they will compete against winners from other countries. Here they will have a chance of winning $5,000 (approx. £4,150) for themselves and $10,000 (approx. £8,300) for their school or college, for educational use.
The judges were impressed with the high level of social responsibility, creativity, and skill displayed. The artworks captured the concepts of mobility for all, future living solutions and helping the disadvantaged. For example, in the future it could be easy to travel anywhere in ‘Toyota Mobile Bubble Houses’, just as Zoe Werner designed, or there could be a ‘Helping Hand’ in the community to distribute used toys and books to children in need, as created by Virat Shah.
Agustín Martín, Toyota (GB) President and Managing Director, presented the awards at a virtual ceremony on 22 February – with the help of Grace Webb, host of CBeebies’s Grace’s Amazing Machines.
There were some brilliant entries this year and the judging process was a difficult one, Sanish Shah won the under-eight category with the ‘Food Fairy’, a recycled car that gives unused food to those less fortunate. In the eight to 11 category, Jake Wimpenny took the lead with his ‘Toyota Turbo Turtle’, which helps saves space on land and accommodates and powers an entire town underwater. Finally, Yulia Konstantinova in the 12 to 15 category succeeded with her ‘Toyota Flying Ray’, which takes traffic off the roads to leave more space for nature.
The gold award winners each received an iPad and the silver and bronze winners a Samsung tablet. All finalists will be sent a Toyota goody bag.
