The British Polio Fellowship launches Schools Christmas card competition
National charity The British Polio Fellowship is launching a nationwide competition offering young artists the chance to design its official Christmas card to be sold in 2017. The competition, which is open until Friday 16 December 2016, will give aspiring talents the chance to demonstrate their ability on a national stage, whilst also helping to raise funds for the charity.
The competition is open to all under 16s across the United Kingdom, and in addition to having their design featured on the charity’s cards, winners can expect a prize for themselves and their school, in addition to a framed image of their entry and a pack of cards featuring their design.
“The British Polio Fellowship has a long history of producing charity cards, so a schools competition is a big step,” said Ted Hill MBE, CEO of the British Polio Fellowship. “The card is for a great cause, with all proceeds going directly to helping people living with Post Polio Syndrome (PPS) and spreading awareness of the condition.”
Entries must be two dimensional and designed to fit on 150mm x 150mm sized card or paper, or for a landscape card 174mm x 118mm. Entrants have the option to enter in four categories, which are a traditional card; a neutral card; a more modern, humorous card; and freestyle.
“There’s plenty of ways to enter, across multiple formats, which we’re hoping maximises the potential for creative expression,” added Ted. “We’ve tried to make the competition as open as possible by including several categories, and we hope to see many children and schools taking part. Hopefully this will be a really good fun way to raise substantial funds for a very worthy cause. It’s really exciting to involve younger generations with the work of the British Polio Fellowship in this way and who knows, we might even discover the next Lowry!”
The competition is open to all schoolchildren. Professional artists may not enter but older school students are welcome. For further information about the British Polio Fellowship, visit www.britishpolio.org.uk or call 0800 043 1935.
