Build your own paper battleships and commemorate the Battle of Jutland
In the week leading up to the weekend of 29-30th May, Red, White & Blue Day is challenging schools around the country to build their own flotilla of battleships to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of Jutland and highlight the pivotal role played by the Royal Navy.
How will you honour the 250 warships that took part in the Battle, which proved to be a key turning point in the fight for naval superiority during World War Two?
Maybe you’d like to consider naming your ship, or writing a message to those who sail in today’s Royal Navy, or even to those who lost their lives at the Battle of Jutland?
Post us your best (flat-packed) ships before 20th May 2016 and we will try and feature them as part of the wider commemorations. You can also share your images and stories on our Facebook page

Red, White & Blue Day is an annual fundraising campaign for schools, supporting the three national charities of our Armed Forces: The Royal Naval and Royal Marines Charity, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, and The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
Centered around an ‘own clothes’ day, which takes place in October each year – this year’s event will take place on Friday 14th October – the campaign encourages school children of all ages to pay £1 and come to school dressed in red, white and blue clothing. It also provides tailored lesson plans for teachers and fun activities for schools to take part in, to show their support for our soldiers, sailors and airmen.
