Segedunum, which means ‘Strong Fort’, was built to guard the eastern end of Hadrian's Wall, & housed 600 Roman soldiers. It stood for almost 300 years as a symbol of Roman rule & a bastion against barbarian attack. Today, Segedunum is a large interactive museum with a full-scale reconstructions of a Roman bath house & a section of Hadrian's Wall. Adults £4.95, Children under 16 FREE.
