HUMAN EVERYTHING SUPPORT KEMP HOSPICE FROM COUCH TO SANTA FUN RUN!

With just under two months to go until their annual Santa Fun Run on Sunday 5th December, KEMP Hospice are encouraging local running groups to sign up and do their bit for local hospice care while having some festive fun!

One such group is local business Human Everything whose co-founders have launched a Couch to 5km running programme, aimed at getting adults in Kidderminster running fit in order to take part in the KEMP Hospice Santa 5km run in December to help raise much needed funds for the hospice.

Beginning in early October, Lucy Edgar and Colin Noble began leading run-group training sessions twice a week from Crossley Retail Park for adults who are new to running. Following a 9-week programme, the ‘graduation’ run will be the KEMP Hospice Santa Run.

Lucy Edgar, Co-Founder and one of the run leaders at Human Everything, said: “Colin and I have both been running for about 20 years now and we know how exercise can make us feel better – physically and mentally. We are excited to help people on their running journey who may be unsure about how to get started or who don’t want to go out on their own. Running with a goal is really helpful when it comes to motivation – and what better motivation than the KEMP Santa run which is always good fun and to help raise money for such an important local cause!?”

Fundraiser and event organiser at KEMP Hospice Coralie Hudson said: “We are thrilled that Colin and Lucy are supporting KEMP and our event by organising their own Couch to 5k and what a graduation it will be! We would love to see lots of other running groups across the area do the same. Perhaps we can even inspire a spot of healthy competition!”

KEMP’s annual winter event, kindly sponsored by Blisstech Solutions and Eureka Financial Solutions, which for many local people marks the start of the Christmas countdown, has attracted hundreds of runners for 14 years, and KEMP are encouraging their Wyre Forest community to sign up to have some fun whilst supporting local hospice care. Supporters can opt to take part in a timed 10k, a 5k race, and for families, a Kids 1k Santa Dash around the park. For supporters who can’t make it, they can join in virtually and take part in their own time throughout December, choose their own fitness activity – from running, walking, cycling or skipping - and get involved in a location they choose.

Everyone who signs up to take part in the 5k or 10k in person or virtually, will receive a much-coveted Santa suit as well as a certificate and medal for completing - and all fundraisers who smash a £75 target will receive a special limited-edition KEMP running t-shirt!

Ticket sales are now open, and supporters can enjoy 20% early bird prices until Sunday 31st October with special promo code: EarlyBird. Regular prices are £20 for the timed 10k run, £15 for an adult and £10 for under 16s for the family 5k, and £5 for the Kids 1k Santa Dash.

Everyone who signs-up will receive a free Santa suit to wear which will be available to collect from the hospice (dates to be confirmed) or opt to have them posted.

Register online at www.kemphospice.org.uk/santafunrun or call KEMP Hospice Fundraising on 01562 756066. All money raised will go towards KEMP Hospice, helping to provide free-of-charge specialist care and support to families and their carers across the Wyre Forest who are experiencing life-limiting illness and bereavement.
