Dr Alison Gray will deliver two exciting events as part of Hereford Cathedral’s Life & Learning programme this March, including a family friendly walkthrough of the Old Testament.
Dr Alison Gray, Director of Studies and Tutor in Old Testament Language, Literature, and Theology at Westminster College, Cambridge, will offer insights into the Old Testament and its significance for Christians during two special events. Scheduled for Friday 28 March and Saturday 29 March, these sessions will delve into the rich history and teachings of the Old Testament.
The first event ‘What’s the Story of the Old Testament and Why Does It Matter for Christians?’, will take place on Friday 28 March at 7 pm in College Hall. In this lecture, Dr Gray a popular speaker and expert in her field, will explore the importance of the Old Testament in understanding the life and teachings of Jesus.
On the following day, Saturday 29 March at 10.30 am, Dr Gray will present a family-friendly interactive session ‘A Walkthrough of the Old Testament’. This free event is most suitable for children aged seven and up and provides a unique and fun experience as participants ‘walk through’ the Old Testament, encountering dramatized interviews with famous (and not-so-famous) Biblical characters. This immersive session is a perfect opportunity for families to engage with the Bible in an accessible and dynamic way.
The Revd Canon James Pacey, Chancellor of Hereford Cathedral, said: ‘We are thrilled to be joined by Dr Alison Gray for these two special events here at the cathedral as we dive into the Old Testament together. Whether you're new to the stories or have been studying them for years, the two events will provide opportunities for further discovery in new and though-provoking ways.
I’m particularly excited for the Saturday event and can’t wait to meet the host of biblical characters throughout the cathedral! We’re also pleased to be able to offer a 50% off voucher for any family group that attends the Saturday event to be redeemed in the Cathedral Café on the day.’
Tickets for the lecture on Friday evening cost £10 and can be purchased via the Hereford Cathedral website or by contacting Hereford Cathedral Library & Archives at library@herefordcathedral.org or by phone at 01432 374 225
The event on Saturday is free but advance booking is essential due to limited spaces. Any family that attends will get a 50% voucher for the Cathedral Café to use that day. Please contact the Library Team on 01432 374 225 or email library@herefordcathedral.org to reserve your place.
