Building Wonders at Glasgow Science Centre this Easter

Glasgow Science Centre is getting ready to spring into the holidays with Building Wonders, a lively mix of construction play, creative challenges and Easter‑themed activities. The programme runs throughout the spring break and encourages families to spend a full day building, experimenting and exploring together. As the Science Centre celebrates its 25th birthday year, it is also a great moment to enjoy everything that has made it a favourite family destination.

Inside the Science Mall, the Construction Zone in The Hive will be full of energy. Children can design and build imaginative structures using giant blue blocks, creating towers, bridges and tunnels as they experiment with how ideas come to life. The space encourages early engineering thinking through hands‑on play and offers a lively starting point for a day of discovery.
For families who like a challenge, the Egg Drop Challenge in the Design Studio offers a chance to work together on a simple but exciting task. The goal is to create a protective cradle that keeps a fragile egg safe when it drops from a height. The fun is in the teamwork, laughter and the shared triumph when a design finally holds.

Flame On! turns up the heat in the Science Show Theatre. This fiery live experience explores what fire really is, how humans have learned to use it and why understanding it helps us stay safe. With plenty of “wow” moments, it’s the hottest ticket in the building this Easter and a brilliant way to spark curiosity in audiences of all ages.

Families can also take on the construction‑themed Bunny Trail, which leads them around all three floors of the Science Mall. Each stop sits among hundreds of hands‑on exhibits, so the trail becomes a lively journey filled with puzzles, clues and unexpected science moments. It’s a fun way to explore the entire centre, discovering favourites old and new along the way. If the sun makes an appearance, the adventure can spill outdoors too, with the sand pit in the Fibonacci Garden offering even more space for children to create in the fresh air.

To round off the day, the IMAX theatre is showing two Mini Blockbuster Add‑Ons. Visitors can choose the new Penguins – A Love Story 3D or the thrilling T‑Rex 3D. The Planetarium offers more chances to explore with shows such as Spring Skies, Space Explorers and The Great Solar System Adventure, and a special Planetarium Late also features during the holiday period.

With construction zones, creative challenges, giant‑screen adventures and trails to explore, Building Wonders promises a joyful family day out. In this special 25th birthday year, the Science Centre invites visitors to celebrate curiosity, creativity and the fun of discovering something new.

Building Wonders runs 3rd to 19th April 2026. More details and booking information are available at glasgowsciencecentre.org
