BARDYKES FARM - BEST IN BRITAIN
A small nursery school in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, close to Glasgow, has WON - the Best Outdoor Learning Environment in the UK in the 18th National NMT Nursery Awards 2020!
Bardykes Farm Nursery School is a partnership nursery nestled in the grounds of a family farm and has been caring for families since 1991. Bardykes was the judges’ clear winner.
Here is the feedback: ‘The setting oozed a strong ethos of compassion, fun, warmth and loveliness! Children were given time to pace their own learning using magical spaces to wonder, be amazed and totally engage. Through hide and find, throwing stones in river, collecting eggs, tree swinging and gorge walking, children felt they owned the place and took great delight in showing their guests around.
Mrs Ailsa Wilkie, Owner since 1991 said: ‘We are delighted to receive this recognition for all the hard work we have done over so many years. Thank you to all the families for supporting us and the team of wonderful workers who have made the nursery what it is today. 2020 has been a very tough year for everyone and the team and families deserve this now, more than ever.’
Winners of the National NMT Nursery Awards were announced at the virtual awards held on Thursday 26th November attended by over 550 guests. The Bardykes Dream Team were looking forward to the Hilton but instead, due to covid, they celebrated in Black Tie Style virtually from inside the nursery.
Bardykes is an Eco School proudly flying a Green Flag on the farm from Keep Scotland Beautiful. The Green Flag is an internationally recognised accreditation for excellence in environmental action. A visible indication of the team’s commitment to learning from nature and sustainability.
In the Future:
• The Nursery is currently accepting new applications for August 2021
• The NEW Events Team at Bardykes Farm have an exciting range of activities for all to experience ranging from feeding the Spring Lambs & Woodland Adventure Walks for children to Wellbeing Retreats by the river & Corporate Team Building for adults
• 2021 will also be 30th Anniversary Celebration Year for the nursery
About the Awards: The National NMT Nursery Awards 2020 is an annual event organised by Nursery Management Today, the leading business publication in the nursery sector. The Awards are designed to reward excellence in childcare and celebrate the very best people in the Nursery Sector. There were 16 categories to enter overall and there were four or five finalists in each category with two independent judges.
