There is a charity walk taking place in Pollok Country Park on Sunday 3rd September. All the money raised will go to Bloodwise, the blood cancer charity, to fund life-saving research into blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Blood cancer kills more people each year than breast or prostate cancer, so every penny counts in ensuring we can saves the lives of even more patients.
People join the Walk to celebrate a life saved, to walk in memory of a loved one, or simply for a great day out.
The walk will start off at the Burrell Collection and you have the option of following the route once (5k) or twice (10k), it will take you past Highland Cattle, into woodlands and along the White Cart Water. You will pass Pollok House, an impressive 18th century mansion, and perhaps catch a glimpse of Clydesdale horses in the Stable Courtyard before returning once more to the Burrell Collection.
Participants are being asked to raise just £100 which will be invested in life-saving research into blood cancer such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Bloodwise has a strong presence in Scotland, with over £6million currently invested in blood cancer research projects at Glasgow and Edinburgh Universities.
