Walk through the gates of Duncarron Medieval Fort and step back in time

The Clanranald Trust for Scotland, started in 1995, built Duncarron to bring Scottish history to life. Duncarron has been built and is run by an army of volunteers, led by the CEO Charlie Allan.

Receiving no outside funding, the Trusts volunteers and supporters have put £2 million of their own money into the project and following the grand opening in May 2019, the murder hole gates have been opened to welcome visitors.

When you visit you may meet the invading Romans and warrior Picts or chat with visiting Vikings. Perhaps you will stand with Wallace and Bruce, or learn about Mary Queen of Scots? Will you go into battle with the Jacobites or set sail with the Pirates?

Every Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursday during school term time, Duncarron offers themed school visits to enhance and bring to life various history topics. From Romans and Picts to Jacobites and everything in between.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during school term, Duncarron will be open to the public for tours, talks and unique events.

During school holidays the Fort will be open on most days but please do check our website or Facebook pages for details. To book a school visit, email info@clanranald.org
