Visit a tropical paradise this October

It’s the last chance this year to enter a tropical paradise of giant butterflies, rainforests and deserts at St Andrews Botanic Garden and Tropical Butterfly House this October. Hot and dry, with family fun for all, it’s a tropical paradise all right on your doorstep in St Andrews.

Needing to be seen to be believed, the tropical butterflies, some as large as your hand, flutter around the visitor in every vibrant colour. Some seem to float, some to race, and others to dance and circle like an unending carnival. With knowledgeable and friendly attendants to enhance the visit, there is much to see and learn about these amazing tropical butterflies, caterpillars and pupae.

Continue on to see bananas growing, giant cacti and meat-eating plants, all indoors in tropical glasshouses. With many indoor displays, extensive Gardens and interactive trails, there is something for everyone. Borrow an explorers’ backpack with everything you need for a plant hunt in the outdoor garden, still in dramatic flower and with autumn colour bursting from the trees.

During the holidays, nature crafts and science activities are available every day from 12pm-2pm, free after normal entry fees. Dramatic and exciting, this is a great fun day out that opens your eyes to the wacky world of plants. A welcoming tearoom makes it parent friendly too!
