Children's Hearings Scotland to Recruit 30 New Volunteers in Fife to become Children's Panel Members

The Children’s Panel work to help protect the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people in Scotland. Currently it consists of around 2,500 trained volunteer members who collectively make vital decisions on how to best protect each child. It is the largest legal tribunal in Scotland, and volunteers are essential to its work.

Children’s Hearing Scotland has launched its annual recruitment campaign which aims to recruit over 500 volunteers to join Scotland’s Children’s Panel, including recruiting 30 new volunteers local to Fife. In September, Fife House hosted informal information evenings where members of the public interested in becoming potential volunteers could talk to existing Panel members, and learn about the role, the recruitment process, and the training provided.

Adults of all ages and from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply; applicants just need to be over 18 years old, good listeners, reliable, and need to care. Following successful completion of the pre-service training and management of hearings training, volunteers gain a Professional Development Award.
