CALLING ALL YOUNG DANCERS - AUDITIONS FOR LOCAL PANTO!

ALADDIN FLIES IN ON A MAGIC CARPET TO THE ADAM SMITH THEATRE THIS CHRISTMAS

Young dancer auditions to be held on 26 August

The Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy are delighted to announce that they will once again be teaming up with Imagine Theatre on this year’s spectacular family panto Aladdin.

Last year’s Cinderella marked the first collaboration between the two companies and it proved to be a smash hit with audiences.

This particular production of the family favourite will see many familiar faces returning to the stage. For local stars Gordon Brandie and Kim Shepherd, appearing in the Adam Smith panto means that they will be home for Christmas.

The hilarious Gordon is cast as Wishee Washee, while last year’s Cinderella, Kim, will be taking on the dual roles of So Shi and Spirit of the Ring with her Fairy Godmother Ashley Andrew as the Princess. Derek McGhie, who was one of the Ugly Sisters last year, continues his wicked ways as the evil magician Abanazar. Two new members of the team this year will be Craig Glover who is taking on the role of Widow Twankey and Matthew Tomlinson who will play the hero of the story, Aladdin.

Craig has appeared in numerous pantomimes for Imagine Theatre, having played Widow Twankey before at The Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock in 2015 as well as spending a number of years at The Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock. Matthew will be appearing in his first pantomime for Imagine Theatre, having recently starred in the UK tour of Footloose as Chuck.

Additionally, young dancers from Fife will have the chance to prove they have the ‘x’ factor with open auditions for the panto on Saturday 26th August. The Adam Smith Theatre are looking for boys and girls aged 9-16 and in school years P5-S5 at the time of the production, to take part in the Junior Chorus.

Steve Boden, from Imagine Theatre, who co-produce the show, says “the Junior Chorus are a really important part of the show so it is essential that we choose the right children to take part. Although the audition is dance based we look closely for that something extra that makes a child stand out.”

“For any youngster who is thinking of going in to the entertainment business it is a great chance to work on a professional production and get a feel for exactly what it is like. Live theatre is a lot of hard work but great fun as well.”

Application forms and more information on the auditions can be downloaded from www.imaginetheatre.co.uk. The application forms do not need to be submitted in advance and will also be available on the day if required, although where possible please complete them beforehand and bring with you to save time on audition day.

Don’t miss your chance to see this fabulous pantomime. Aladdin runs from Saturday 9 December 2017 until Saturday 6 January 2018.
