Discover a hidden history this Halloween

Step into the shadows of history this Halloween and discover stories that have shaped Markshall for over 1,000 years. From the powerful Honywood family to the legacy of Thomas Phillips Price and tales of the Second World War, the estate is alive with echoes of the past.

The much-loved Halloween Trail returns this October half term, running from Saturday the 25th to Friday 31st October. Complete the trail to win a munchkin pumpkin prize (subject to availability). Alongside spooky surprises for the whole family, you may just sense something a little ghostly around the grounds... Follow Markshall on social media for the latest updates!

Start your adventure by visiting the lakes, where monster carp and roaches glide through the water. Free fish food is available from admissions, so little hands can enjoy feeding these gentle giants in the ornamental lakes.

Around the arboretum, shiny conkers are tumbling from the chestnut trees. Why not gather a few to use in your own crafts at home? As you wander, look out for the sculptures for some creative inspiration.

After a busy day of exploring, families can refuel at Mrs Salisbury’s Tea Room, serving everything from hearty breakfasts to tempting afternoon treats.
