Buzz in the City – Chelmsford’s new art trail

A swarm of colourful bee sculptures has landed in Chelmsford city centre this summer for the ‘Buzz in the City’ art trail, which is organised by Farleigh Hospice.

This is a free art event that all the family can enjoy, with chances to claim rewards including exclusive discounts, competitions and downloads.

There are 30 giant bees, which have each been designed by a talented artist. Local schools, care homes and community groups have been decorating mini bees which are also on the trail.

They can be found by downloading the Buzz in the City mobile app or using a printed map, available from Farleigh’s ‘Full Circle’ store in Chelmsford High Street.

The trail is open until 9th September so there is plenty of time to join the buzz and discover them all! After the trail closes, the bees will then be moved to the gardens of Farleigh Hospice in Broomfield where they will be on display together for a final farewell on 13th and 14th September.

Farleigh is working with Chelmsford For You – the City’s Business Improvement District – to organise Buzz in the City, with the support of Chelmsford City Council. The trail’s headline sponsors are Teledyne E2V and Fisher Jones Greenwood Solicitors.
The giant bee sculptures will be sold at auction to raise money for Farleigh Hospice on 17th September.

The charity provides compassionate hospice care for adults living with life-limiting illnesses and their families in Chelmsford and across mid Essex. Farleigh also offers bereavement information and support to children and adults and makes no charge for any of its services.
