Woodbridge School Prep Achieves Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM)
Through a year-long process, Woodbridge School Prep has achieved the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM), the only national award scheme to develop and celebrate the quality of science teaching and learning in primary schools.
As one of the first schools in the UK to champion engineering as a stand-alone, timetabled subject from Years 1 to 6, Woodbridge School Prep recognises the importance of continued development of science teaching and learning, and the PSQM confirms that commitment to constantly developing and reflecting on practices and continued progression of science in the School. The curriculum also reflects the emphasis placed on the importance of development in innovation, creativity, and analytical skills, as well as the importance and benefit of continual student feedback.
The PSQM’s assessment and subsequent feedback confirmed that, ‘ Science at Woodbridge School Prep is inspiring, and will go from strength to strength’, and that ‘There is a wealth of opportunities for children at Woodbridge School Prep to experience science as relevant and important to them, from assemblies and whole-school investigations, to visits from parents and outside experts such as Suffolk Wildlife Trust.’
Since its launch in 2010, only 5,000 schools across the UK have achieved this prestigious award, led by the University of Hertfordshire, in collaboration with the Primary Science Teaching Trust. A school improvement programme for primary science, which provides professional development for new and experienced subject leaders each year, PSQM enables confident, knowledgeable, reflective leadership which results in an improvement in the way in which science is planned and taught across the whole School.
